If you’re anything like me, you are not a skilled beautician and you don’t have a bunch of high-end products and gadgets to keep your hair tamed in-between appointments. No worries you can maintain your style with just a few main essentials to extend the longevity of your new extensions. Here are a few of our recommendations.
A good co-wash is integral to the prep and maintenance of your virgin hair. You want a good product that will moisturize and nourish your hair so it is long-lasting.
2. Wide Tooth Comb
Perfect for detangling your hair! Small toothed combs can cause excessive shedding as with natural hair so it’s best to use a sturdy one with large teeth.
Sponge rollers, flexi-rods, perm rods and the like are great tools for maintaining your look without heat. This can increase your hair life by months.
Though we don’t recommend overusing hot tools, a good flat iron is a must-buy for those quick touch-ups. A few passes and a good heat protectant will do the trick.
5. Edge Control
Good edge control is really defined by your hair type but nonetheless a vital essential. Sleek your edges down to keep your hair looking polish and fresh.
Ugh, those fly aways! Keep some of this on hand to tame those little buggers finish with a smoothing brush and wrap! Be careful not to use too much or your hair will become stiff.
A wrap helps to lay your hair down, while a silk bonnet protects your hair from damage. Both should be in your kit now!
8. Hair Adhesive
Depending on your install you want to think about keeping some form of adhesive on hand. With the day to day wear, sweat and regular wash routines your install can become loose. Use a safe easy to use gel/adhesive to touch up those spots.
9. Needle and Thread
You never know when you’re going to need it but when you do… you wish you had it. You can tighten up your own tracks or sew down a wig. These two are a must-have.
A classic salon trick to flawless flat irons is a great serum. A little goes a long way but a great serum and be the difference between drab and fab.
